A stylish and sleek rectangular black box from Pace has made a splash with leading French pay-TV operator CANAL+ Group.
Europe’s first satellite/internet-provider box to use the Ethernet port for VOD or Video on Demand services, +Le Cube, was distributed to CANAL+.
+Le Cube possesses a new black and white rectangular design, matched by its remote control device, which can be placed horizontally, vertically, alongside, or on top of your television set, providing tremendous flexibility for installation.
Most of the device is white, but there is a vivid black cube embedded in one corner of it.
Instead of asking customers to adapt their furniture to the device, the device adapts to the environment around it.
Each of the operational features, the LCD display and toggle buttons are set in one of the black corners’ faces.
Depending on the angle it is positioned in, the 128×128 LCD display adapts and displays its features on the desired face of the black section, thanks to a wonderful piece of equipment which is called a gyroscopic detector, originally designed by Pace.
The President of Pace France, Mathias Hautefort, delivered the device, stating his pleasure and pride at the fact that they were chosen to supply the box and for the use of the company with its technology services and the introduction of new services.
Hervé Mathieu, the Vice President of Sales with Pace, declared, “This mechanically demanding product, possibly the most highly developed set-top box on the market…was made possible due to the strong collaboration between the Pace and CANAL+ Group Engineering teams.”
+Le Cube was created in an effort to connect new services to subscribers with CANAL and CANALSAT.
These services will include the most recent US television series, to be shown just a week after their Stateside debuts, in high definition imagery.
Catch up services and broadband access for interactive services are also on tap to appear.
Pace has enjoyed a well-established relationship for 24 years with CANAL+ Group, having earlier provided them with the Mediasat and DUALS devices.
