It looks like the letter that BT sent out to customers of internet service provider Tiscali, which warned them that the ISP’s future was in doubt due to it being up for sale, is coming back to haunt BT in a big way.
It would appear that Tiscali is not going to take the letter sitting down, even if they did intend to sell the business, and have therefore gone to the high court for permission to sue BT on the grounds of unfair commercial practice.
They hope to sue BT under new laws, as under the old rules Tiscali’s complaint was thrown out.
Whether Tiscali will pursue this through the courts is another matter.
Maybe something will change their minds over the next few weeks, like a firm offer for the UK side of the business from some interested parties.
