UK behind when it comes to broadband

by David Allen

The UK is still celebrating the introduction of super fast broadband services, even though this is going to be limited to specific areas.

However this progress is not fast enough, because the UK is still in danger of lagging behind the rest of the world, according to Professor Christopher Bishop, chief scientist at Microsoft Research Cambridge.

This failure to keep up with the rest of the world as broadband technology improves, could not only affect business, but health and education too.

Japan and Korea have the ability to move huge amounts of data over the broadband network, meaning that healthcare workers can send patient files such as x-rays and scans to other hospitals and schools are able to download complete lessons including images and diagrams, something that cannot be done in the UK.
