Tiscali loses IPTV service

by David Allen

In Italy, subscribers of the broadband and telecom provider Tiscali have just been told that they will no longer be receiving the Tiscali IPTV service, as from the end of the month (today!).

There are around fifty thousand IPTV subscribers in Italy, who all received the news by letter through the post.

The company will be refunding the final month IPTV subscription, however, as of yet there has been no reason given for the sudden decision to pull the plug on this service.

The question is, what about the IPTV service in the UK?

Tiscali started this business with the acquisition of Homechoice a couple of years ago for a huge £100 million.

At the time they were claiming to boost subscribers to over two hundred thousand by the end of this year.

So far, Tiscali UK have not come up with any news about the situation, but it doesn’t look promising, especially as the company has been up for sale for some time.
