Will government bail out broadband?

The government has recently been active in bailing out the banking industry, the question now is could they be on the verge of doing a similar thing to bring the UK’s broadband network up to next generation standards?

Reading between the lines, it would seem that it is highly likely that the government will step in and support the expansion and development of a super fast broadband network.

The PM Gordon Brown has hinted that around £10 billion will be placed into fund, which can be used over the next two years to renew the UK’s phone line network.

This is great news for customers and providers too.

With BT planning a £1.5 billion investment in its network, this new fund would clearly cover that, with money to spare.
