Virgin Media and ITV in content deal

by David Allen

Customers of Virgin Media will be now able to access the on demand services offered by ITV.

This means that three and half million households will be given access to many of the popular soaps and dramas through the catch up service.

Virgin Media was first to offer the BBC’s iPlayer without the need for a computer and this success has highlighted the different ways that customers want to watch their favourite television programmes.

The two companies have entered into a four year agreement which will give the customers of Virgin Media access to around forty hours of TV shows from ITV 1, 2, 3 and 4, but only for a week after they have been shown on terrestrial TV for the first time.
