Freesat keeps growing
by David Allen

The UK’s free to air satellite service, Freesat, which is backed by all of the main TV broadcasters in the UK, has achieved astonishing growth over the past three months.
In fact it can boast having over two hundred thousand customers at the end of December, an increase of one hundred thousand over the final quarter of 2008.
The Freesat service was only launched in May 2008, but has the advantage of being able to offer HDTV services from the BBC and ITV.
In contrast, subscribers to Sky would need to pay extra in order to view these channels in HD.
It is believed that access to these HD services is one of the main reasons for customers choosing Freesat over Sky.
The satellite provider will be releasing its figures for the final quarter of 2008 towards the end of the month.
