Licence payers may get refund

When the digital switchover was first planned the BBC put £600 million aside, to help those people who are on low incomes to get digital TV without having to pay out for it themselves.

However not all of this cash has been spent, so this leaves the BBC with a slight problem of what to do with the money that has been leftover.

There are some ideas under consideration, like the cost of the TV licence being reduced in the future, or even a refund of the licence fee already paid for by the viewers.

However, as with anything that involves cash and a public body, there is very little information around on how much the under spend is likely to be.

It seems that, as per normal, this cash will simply disappear into something that has no value at all.
