Testing to start on H2O’s superfast broadband

January 20, 2009

The first households in Bournemouth are getting ready to try out superfast broadband that runs through the sewer network before connecting to boxes located just outside each property.

H2O Networks Ltd has announced that thirty households will be in a position to begin testing the 100 Mbps broadband service sometime in March.

It has been estimated that this particular network will cost around £30 million to complete, but it will become the largest fibre project of its kind in Europe.

So far around five thousand six hundred businesses and households have registered for this service.

Households will be getting the service for free until engineers leave the area, but once they do leave the charges for the service are expect to be high.
