
MobiTV has been nominated by the GSMA for an award in the Best Mobile TV Service category at the Global Mobile Awards.
The awards will be held at the Palau Nacional in Barcelona, on Tuesday 17th February 2009.
MobiTV is a software download which allows a mobile phone user to watch live TV and VOD content on their handset, as well as access digital music services.
The service includes a program guide and over 40 premium and broadcast channels, depending on carrier.
MobiTV recently struck a deal with network TV provider CBS, adding shows such as ‘CSI: Crime Scene Ivestigation,’ to its line up.
MobiTV launched in the UK in 2005 in a deal with operators Orange and 3, but pulled out of the country in 2007 to focus on the US market.
The company is represented in Europe with a regional sales and R&D team based in Stockholm.
