Scotland invests £3.3m on broadband

The programme of investment in broadband services is beginning to show benefits according to the Scottish government, which has recently invested £3.3 million into developing the country’s broadband network.

The project required people and businesses to register as being in need of a broadband connection.

Around four thousand businesses and households registered as needing help to get a broadband connection due to the distance they are from the nearest exchange.

The company undertaking the work is Avanti Caledonian Broadband Ltd, whose brief is to provide affordable broadband services, through a satellite connection, across the country, reaching those parts that other broadband services cannot.

Satellite broadband may not be perfect, but for households and businesses that have had no broadband at all, it is a start.
