Vodafone testing mobile broadband boost

Mobile broadband provider Vodafone is currently testing a device that could boost mobile broadband performance around the home or business.

After carrying out tests in Egypt, Vodafone has reported substantial improvements to connectivity and is now moving forward with trials in other regions of the world to realise the full potential of the product.

The device is a box with a small antenna. The user places the antenna where the mobile signal is at its strongest, while the box is placed in the weakest area to boost the signal.

This would be ideal for rural areas where the signals are notoriously weak in places, but although this could help in the short term, network upgrading is a better long term solution.
