“Netbook” belongs to Psion

The term “Netbook” has become synonymous with small laptops specifically designed to work with mobile broadband dongles and is used in the marketing of this product.

But recently there have been some issues over the term “Netbook” as it turns out that Psion actually registered the term during the 1990’s.

The software company has gone so far as to send letters out to certain computer manufacturers asking them to stop using the term.

Now Dell, who received one of the letters, is filling for a Petition for Trademark Cancellation with a US court.

Dell believes that because Psion does not have products in this range and clearly has no plans in the future to have any, the trademark should be cancelled.
