Microsoft say broadband is recession proof
by David Allen

Whenever there is a recession many people start looking at their outgoings with a view to where possible savings can be made.
One expense is of course broadband.
However, are subscribers likely to cancel their internet connection in order to save cash?
At the Intellect Annual Regent Conference 2009, software giant Microsoft said it believes consumers are unlikely to give up access to the internet in order to cut back on their monthly outgoings.
In fact, according to data from the regulator Ofcom, consumers are spending more time on the internet.
This could be because they are shopping for bargains, looking for jobs or simply spending time surfing the net instead of going out.
One thing seems to be certain, consumers will be cutting back on many other services before they give up their broadband connections.
