MindTree and Texas Instruments have jointly unveiled a new Bluetooth application that allows users to listen to the same audio stream on different headsets.
The technology opens up a new range of uses for handsets, including song sharing, and watching a movie with friends.
Commenting on the application, Texas Instruments’ marketing manager, Eran Sandhaus, said: “consumers increasingly look at mobile handsets not only as communication devices, but as tools to share music, pictures and other information with friends and family anytime, anywhere”.
Developed by MindTree using Texas Instruments WiLink 6.0, the streaming application incorporates MindTree’s EtherMind stack and profile IP suite into the Gstreamer framework.
Vinod Deshmukh, MindTree President of R&D Services, said: “This unique application not only needed the foundation of EtherMind, a robust Bluetooth stack, but also required innovative ways to overcome technical challenges like synchronization among multiple headsets.”
He added that the application will give MindTree leverage in the mobile applications market.
