Geodesa has launched an online group texting service designed for businesses, charities and clubs.
GeoTEXT enables organisations to send news, promotions or alerts to any number of customers, supporters or members.
Customer numbers and details can be imported direct from Excel, whilst extra customers can opt-in to SMS updates by texting a designated keyword to the organisation.
Sign up for GeoTEXT is free, and it takes around two minutes to subscribe and send the first SMS.
Users only pay for messages sent, priced from 3.9p per message.
Organisations can choose a standard mobile number to send their texts from, or pay extra for a five digit short code.
Ed Neal, Geodesa managing director, said: “What I love is the immediacy of SMS.
“A GeoTEXT SMS goes straight into the pocket of the recipient within seconds – who do you know that does not instinctively check their mobile when it bleeps telling them a new message has arrived?”
He added: “Current GeoTEXT customers use it for sending staff details about last minute changes of meeting venue or time, businesses sending discounts and promotions to customers at their restaurant, sailing clubs telling members of races and events, schools telling parents that school is closed due to snow or for event management companies making sure people are in the right place at the right time.”
