Snom Enters the Touchscreen Market with Snom 870 Handset

Snom, a VoIP (Voice-over-IP) telephone manufacturer based in Berlin, Germany is aiming to enter the touchscreen market. Snom introduced its brand new handset at the Cebit trade show in Hanover, Germany. The handset revealed is the Snom 870.

Snom is convinced that the addition of a touch-enabled user interface will make it easier for users to take advantage of advanced IP (Internet Protocol) telephony features.

One of the best features of the 870, as mentioned is its touchscreen interface. This gives users the convenience that they need. Example is when doing multiparty telephone conference using regular buttons. This can be intimidating to users, but with the 870 touchscreen function, participants can be dragged and dropped into a conference easily and convenienlty.

The VoIP phone comes equipped with a 4.3-inch touchscreen display. It supports SIP (Session Initiation Protocol), and can be turned into a wireless phone by attaching a USB stick.

The company is aiming to start shipping the 870 phone during the second quarter, and said it will cost approximately €360 (US$450).
