Jaxtr and TynTec in SMS deal

Social communications company Jaxtr has entered into a deal with mobile messaging operator TynTec to support its global SMS service.

TynTec will provide SMS capabilities for Jaxtr’s consumer-facing web-to-SMS service.

Jaxtr’s web-activated VoIP services provide free and low-cost local and international calling more than 10 million customers in 220 countries.

Its international SMS service is supported by text advertising.

Jaxtr selected TynTec for its delivery quality and international reach.

Through proprietary SMS-C and multiple points of connectivity into the deep-level (SS7) global mobile network, TynTec ensures that SMS can be delivered quickly and reliably to more than 400 networks in 160 countries.

Phillip Mobin CTO of Jaxtr, said: “We always look for providers that can offer our customers great international reach, timely delivery and utter reliability, and Tyntec is just such a company. TynTec’s technical infrastructure means that it can offer this combination and that made them a great partner for this project.”

Last month Jaxtr opened up free, international mobile calling to all users, rather than just registered users of it site.

The service works by providing a local number to both the caller and the recipient.

The caller enters their own number, and the number of the person they wish to call, on the Jaxtr website.

The site generates a local phone number, and when the caller dials it, a text message is sent to the recipient containing a number that is local to that person.

When the recipient dials that number, Jaxtr connects both the local calls through an international VoIP link.

Callers and recipients only have to pay for local cellular minutes, and because the recipient is making a call, not receiving one, Jaxtr doesn’t have to pay a local carrier for termination.

Users can also pay for a more sophisticated service, which allows them to benefit from low cost overseas calls without the recipient having to call a local number.

The latest deal with Tyntec is part of Jaxtr’s efforts to develop a more sophisticated service offering that will incorporate social features using Web and text messaging.
