The chief executive of Channel Four, Andy Duncan has responded to the claims by Sky TV that Channel Four was wrong to stop the subscription based channels like FilmFour and E4.
Sky TV claims that pulling these fee based channels out of Sky’s channel line has become a serious and costly mistake.
In a response to the communications minister Lord Carter’s report on Digital Britain, Sky stated that the decision by Channel Four to not renew its pay TV carriage agreements with Sky for FilmFour and E4 has lost them valuable revenues.
Sky went on to offer Channel Four help to launch a new range of pay TV channels, as this would bring in revenue as well as advertising.
But Andy Duncan will have none of it.
He said that Channel Four received insufficient revenues from the platform operators to make a decent profit and went on to accuse Sky of looking after its own interests by offering Channel Four a way back to pay TV.
