Music banned from YouTube

The video site, YouTube, has stopped all music videos from being seen on the site, following a disagreement between the site owners Google and the music industry royalty collectors.

There have been negotiations under way for some time between all parties, but there does not appear to have been any progress.

In fact the whole situation is in danger of getting out of control, especially now that YouTube has pulled all premium music videos off the site because it was unable to reach a satisfactory agreement with the Performing Rights Society for Music.

What this means for music fans is that any music found on the site that belongs to a record label, or is later claimed to be owned by a record label, will be simply removed.

This move puts an end to free previews of albums and free singles and it could hurt the music industry more than YouTube.
