OSBF solution allows SOA and security in cloud

With the future of the internet being tipped as cloud computing, where users subscribe to a full range of interoperable projects utilising the latest programs, breakthroughs from the European Interoperability group have brought the cloud computing dream even closer.

The project group, part of the Open Source Business Foundation, launched its Internet Service Bus at CeBIT earlier this month.

The ISB adds secure functionality to cloud computing via its Identity Network Service, which allows users to securely sign-in to a multitude of services combined in the cloud via a single login.

This new breakthrough offers a whole myriad of opportunity to hosting companies, software manufacturers, and system integrators.

At a live demonstration offered by the group at CeBIT, visitors were enthralled to see how the new systems allowed medical staff to access patient records, using a cloud browsing experience which combined bridging between the Java and NET worlds, and integrated Open-Xchange, MS Exchange and MS Virtual Earth in a single browser.

All of this was done transparently, with users requiring no technical savvy to make it happen.

Also jumping on the cloud bandwagon at CeBIT were SAP and IBM, who demonstrated the movement of SAP workloads in a live environment across a cloud of IBM servers, using virtual logical partitions.

Microsoft is also into cloud computing, announcing that one of its clients is using Microsoft’s Azure Services Platform to move data between a mainframe and an AS/400 standalone.

Not only does cloud computing allow users access to the latest in software in a fully virtual environment, but it is a major boon to hosting companies assisting them to balance loads.
