Toshiba announces its first LED models
Toshiba has unveiled its 2009 LCD TV range which it says is its largest and most advanced to date.

The range includes the REGZA SV, Toshiba’s first UK TV to feature an LED backlight, with 46in and 55in models available.

With the help of the LED backlight, these sets offer a contrast ratio of 2 million to 1.

The LED backlight feature, combined with a 100Hz system is said to give a 200Hz-like effect.

The SV series also supports DLNA (Digital Living Network Alliance) connection with a PC, either wired or wirelessly, so you can remotely access music, video and photos on your PC and enjoy them on the HDTV.

  1. These look set to be a very impressive bit of kit, as toshiba will be useing a full local dimming LED backlight which is capable of turning of the backlight on individual area’s of the screen to provide really deep blacks and bright colours all in the same image, which is something toshiba’s competitors that use LED Edge-lit systems or standard CCFL backlights cant provide.

I cant wait to see if they are as good in real life as they are on paper!
