Whenever Bang & Olufsen releases a product, specially in the home entertainment category, customers are more or less assured of the beauty and quality of these consumer electronic devices.

Bang & Olufsen have announced a new entry-level 40-inch LCD HDTV. They call it the B&O BeoVision 8. It comes in with Full HD 1080p 1,920 x 1,080 native resolution, 3,000:1 contrast ratio, 500 nits of brightness and 6ms response time. The BeoVision 8 also includes a 100MHz picture engine for smoother fast-moving scenes and compatibility with the company’s BeoLink home integration system.

As always, Bang & Olufsen focused their efforts on customers overall experience whenever their products are used. This is clearly emphasized with the integrated speakers mounted in the jutting chin section of the television. This is complimented with a down-facing bass speaker that allows users to hear an orchestra-like sound. There’ll be PAL, SECAM and NTSC versions, with DVB-HD digital tuners for those regions with suitable broadcasts.

As of the moment, no word has yet been released on the BeoVision’s pricing. But with the beauty and quality of Bang & Olufsen’s products, it is always safe to assume that it comes with a hefty price tag. Even with the “entry-level” label, it’s still not enough to convince many of us that this is an HDTV that most people would find affordable.
