Mobile video provider Babelgum has announced the launch of its iPhone video application in the US.
Already a success in the UK and Italy – with 30% and 25% respectively of iPhone users in these countries downloading the Babelgum player – the company believes it is now ready for US launch.
Video content available from the Babelgum website has been tailored to appeal to US iPhone users – including exclusive music videos, BBC comedy clips, a specially commissioned original comedy, “Goodnight Burbank: Hollywood Report”, exclusive independent films, and documentaries.
Babelgum CEO Valerio Zingarelli said: “With this move Babelgum reaffirms its position as a leading TV service available on the web and on 3G mobile with a cross-platform strategy.
“We are the first independent online television company to carry a truly original application over onto full mobile Internet.”
Babelgum videos can be downloaded to the iPhone over 3G or a Wi-Fi connection.
Versions of the Babelgum video player for the G-Phone, Blackberry Storm, Samsung Omnia, Nokia N97, and Nokia 5800 will launch later this year.
