Cricket broadcast clash over rights

There has been a lot of news regarding the change of venue for the Indian Premier League (IPL) cricket tournament.

This may take place in the UK, although this has to be confirmed by the IPL which is in talks with the English cricket board and others.

However, there could be problems for the cricket broadcasters who have agreements in place with various cricket boards around the world.

Sky Sports holds the contract with the English Cricket board to televise all test matches and one day events, but on the other hand the Indian premier league has a contract with Sky Sports satellite rival Setanta.

However this will only be a factor if the IPL brings the competition to the UK.

It is also in talks with South Africa because of rain in the UK.
