The UKTV channel Gold will bring back the popular sitcom “Fawlty Towers” but not in the way that fans may be thinking of.
The channel will be producing two one-off specials called ‘Fawlty Towers: Re Opened’ and ‘Fawlty Exclusive: Basil Best Bits’.
The first programme will follow the co writer Connie Booth, who also starred as Polly in the show, as she breaks her thirty year silence on what really happened during the filming of the BBC show.
The second programme will see John Cleese presenting a two hour special on his favourite scenes from the show.
There will also be contributions from former Monty Python stars, Michael Palin and Terry Jones, and fans Eddie Izzard, AA Gill, Sir Trevor MacDonald, and Happy Days star Henry Winkler, as well as the owners of the Gleneagles Hotel, said to be the inspiration for the show.
