Zhone Technologies launches XP line up

Zhone Technologies yesterday launched three products in its EXpress Packet (XP) range.

The XP range is based on Zhone’s Single-Line Multi-Service (SLMS) access operating system, and providers a competitive solution for business EFM and triple play services.

Operators using the XP platform can deliver sophisticated services over copper broadband including intelligent call processing, HD, and video on demand (VOD).

The XP units are available in three models: Raptor XP 170, Raptor XP 150, and MALC XP 150.

The Raptor XP 170 supports loop bonding and pseudowire (PWE) traffic transport; the Raptor XP 150 has IP/Ethernet DSLAM with optional built-in POTS splitters, whilst the MALC XP 150 is designed for sophisticated processing of VoIP calls.

The units are weather and temperature resistant in extreme environments and come with an integrated Web Graphical User Interface for quick service turn up.

Erik M. Keith, broadband infrastructure analyst at Current Analysis, said: “Zhone’s new XP portfolio provides both an accelerated time-to-market proposition and flexible deployment capabilities at an affordable price point.”

He added that the XP family will be particularly useful in enabling operators to take high-speed broadband to rural communities.

Steven Glapa, Zhone’s vice president of product management and marketing, added: “The XP family gives network operators the ideal entry point for affordable provisioning of EFM and high-bandwidth triple play.”
