The cost of broadband is falling across the European Union according to the EU’s recent report on the telecom market in the member states.
The report shows that across the board prices of broadband services have fallen by an average of nineteen per cent, from £35.44 per month in 2007, to £28.74 per month in 2008, for the service that covers connection speeds of between 1 Mbps and 2 Mbps.
The report also showed that around seventy five per cent of consumers in the EU have access to a broadband connection of 2 Mbps or more.
For those consumers with a connection speed of 2 Mbps to 4 Mbps the price of their service fell by around twenty nine per cent, but for consumers on higher speeds of 4 Mbps to 8 Mbps their costs only fell by four per cent.
