The History Channel UK, which is a long term joint venture between British Sky Broadcasting (BSkyB) and the A&E Television Network (AETN), will be getting a new commercial director.
Christina Foley, who has seventeen years experience in European cable TV, will replace Ian McDonough, who left the History Channel to join the BBC Worldwide operation in December last year.
Ms Foley will be reporting to the managing director of the History Channel UK, Tom Davidson.
Her brief will be to ensure the continued growth of the channel throughout the world and into new regions within the Middle East and Africa as well as up tapped markets in Europe.
Brand expansion is essential for the channel’s survival in these uneasy times.
Fortunately satellite TV is one of the sectors less affected by the current financial problems.
