Job cuts at Virgin Media

Bookmark and Share

by David Allen

Back in November, Virgin Media announced that it would be cutting around two thousand jobs over the next four years or so, and after a consulting period, the first job cuts have been announced.

The company will be cutting a hundred and fifty staff from its call centre operation in Nottingham.

The cuts will be affecting sales and support staff within the telesales department, although they will not take place until later in the year.

These plans will see thirty five support staff leave the company in July, while a hundred and thirteen sales staff will be leaving their posts in October.

Virgin Media, which currently has seventy six offices throughout the UK, has said these changes are essential to the company’s future and will safeguard the employment of the remaining staff.
