Shoretel releases version 9
by David Masters

Shoretel yesterday released version 9 of its unified communications (UC) software.
Shoretel 9 enables mobile and desktop users to communicate effectively wherever they are.
New features in the release include SIP support, location-based call routing, and enhanced distributed architecture with streamlined failover protection.
Support and integration with Microsoft Office Communications Server (OCS) 2007 and Microsoft Active Directory are included.
Shoretel users can use Microsoft Office Communicator to manage their Shoretel handset, view the availability of contacts, and exchange instant messages with other Microsoft and Shoretel users.
Furthermore, individual callers can be given custom settings to ensure that priority callers always get through.
Kevin Gavin, ShoreTel’s vice president of marketing, said: “ShoreTel 9 delivers the personalisation, high-availability and security capabilities that enterprises of all sizes need to support the widespread deployment of ShoreTel business phone systems with integrated unified communications.”
Shoretel 9 is available as a free upgrade to current Shoretel customers.
