HTC launches QWERTY Snap smartphone

High Tech Computer unveiled its latest QWERTY smartphone, the HTC Snap, this week at the CTIA Wireless 2009 trade fair in Las Vegas.

Designed to make keeping in touch simple, the HTC Snap has a dedicated ‘Inner Circle’ email button that brings new emails from a selected group of people to the top of the email inbox.

This function was incorporated after a study found that nearly half of US phone users are overwhelmed with the amount of email they receive, whilst 55% prioritise email from five or fewer contacts.

Powered by Windows Mobile 6.1 and a 528MHz Qualcomm processor, HTC Snap’s features include a 2-megapixel camera, 2.4-inch QVGA display, microSD card slot, extra-large domed keys, and aGPS navigation.

Connectivity comes via HSDPA, WiFi, and Bluetooth 2.0+EDR.

Talktime is up to 8.5 hours, whilst standby lasts for up to 20 days.

The Snap will launch in the US as the S522 this spring, whilst the UK-bound Snap will launch sometime ‘this summer’.
