Ford develops dashboard broadband

The Ford Motor Company has become the first car maker in the world to develop a dashboard broadband system.

The system is only available in the US and is limited to commercial vehicles like the Ford F-150, Super Duty, E-Series and Transit Connect trucks.

The hardware is produced by the Italian based Magneti Marelli and will be running the Microsoft auto operating system.

The system will be preloaded with the Opera mini browser and the user will also be offered the ability to access the system remotely through the LogMeln Pro application.

The system will consist of a 6.5 inch touch screen, 4 Gb of memory, secure digital slot (SD), USB port and a wireless keyboard and mouse.

For those that want just a little bit more there is also the optional Bluetooth battery powered HP Officejet mobile printer.
