Sky urges broadcasters to take first 3D steps

There is a clear indication that Sky TV is serious about 3D TV with the director of strategic product development, Gerry O’Sullivan, promoting it to the audience at the National Association of Broadcasters show (NAB) in Las Vegas.

Sky is trying to encourage broadcasters and programme makers to simply grab the bull by the horns and get started on 3D TV.

The costs are said to be the major hurdle, yet Sky seems to think that this can be done with the investments it has already made.

The goal is to get 3D TV delivered to the consumer’s home.

Sky has been conducting trials of 3D TV with sporting events, concerts and drama programming all of which appeared to have been successful.
