Cricket heads “Crown Jewels” consultation

The debate continues on which national sporting events should be allowed to be shown on satellite TV and those that viewers would like to see broadcast free on terrestrial TV.

As part of this process there is a public consultation where any member of the public can have a say on what sporting event they would prefer to see on free TV.

This has been running for around two weeks now and it seems that cricket is the sport that viewers most want to see on free-to-air TV.

This will be a shock for the England and Wales Cricket Board, as it signed an £300 million agreement with BSkyB only last year.

Sky Sports was given the rights to show all international cricket matches that are played at home between 2010 and 2013.
