GetJar reports 10m Nimbuzz downloads
by David Masters
Ten million copies of social networking app Nimbuzz have been downloaded from the GetJar app store.
Ilja Laurs, GetJar CEO, said: “Nimbuzz is an extremely popular application on GetJar and we are delighted to be a part of this milestone moment and to have been able to help them in achieving this.”
Nimbuzz is a social networking app that integrates instant messaging, geo presence, and VoIP.
Services available on Nimbuxx include Skype, Windows Live Messenger, Yahoo Massenger, ICQ, GoogleTalk, AIM, Facebook, and MySpace.
Japp Lugt, Nimbuzz CEO, said GetJar is the top outside source that Nimbuzz uses to increase mobile downloads.
He added that GetJar’s pay per download service – where Nimbuzz pays for premium placement in the GetJar catalogue – allows Nimbuzz to acquire users at 10% of the cost of traditional online advertising campaigns.
Other application companies that use GetJar include Google Maps, Yahoo Go, and Opera Mini.
