Not having its own mobile broadband network has left BT in a position where it has not been able to offer mobile broadband to customers.
However over the past couple of years, despite the initial worries, consumers have taken to mobile broadband in their millions.
Not to be left behind, BT has come up with a plan that offers the consumer a package that combines home and mobile broadband service at a cost of just £17.12 per month.
The home broadband service offers a connection speed of up to 8 Mbps through the BT network, while the mobile broadband service is provided by Vodafone.
This can offer a connection speed of up 7.2 Mbps depending on location, although the dongle is capable of switching to 3G.
Customers will only get 1 Gb worth of data usage allowance per month and will be committed to the contract for eighteen months.
