Canada-based Aastra has announced the launch of two new SIP phones: the 6730i and the 6731i.

Both handsets feature call display, full duplex speakerphone, intercom, paging, auto answer, and XML browser capabilities.

Aastra said the phones are ideal for use in both small and large businesses, and are designed to integrate and deploy easily with certified IP solutions providers.

Aastra handsets are designed to work on Aastra IP systems, as well as solutions provided by Broadsoft, Metaswitch, Nortel, and Digium’s Asterisk Business Edition.

The XML browser allows RSS feeds to be read direct from the telephone’s handset display.

“We feel that in today’s business environment, these cost effective additions to our portfolio of SIP telephones will be well received by the market,” said Simon Beebe, Aastra’s vice president of open standards solutions.

He added that the new handsets – powered by open-standards firmware – demonstrate Aastra’s commitment to open standards.
