Broadband is getting narrower
by David Allen

When the public hears politicians talk about broadband-for-all and super fast broadband networks, they have no reason not to believe that this is going to happen, yet industry experts feel that the broadband network could be getting slower in the not too distant future.
According to a study carried out by Nemertes Research, demand for broadband services will overtake the amount of broadband available to consumers by 2012 causing a “Brownout”.
This is where the internet is so slow that the computer effectively freezes.
This is not just a UK problem, it is global.
With more people using the internet for work, entertainment and communications, the system simply will not be able to cope all of the time.
Demand during this year alone is set to double.
