Freeview gets a new marketing man

The free to view digital TV provider Freeview has appointed a new director of marketing communications.

Tim Hunt will replace Rob Farmer who has left Freeview to take up a similar position at ITV.

His main job, initially, will be to focus on the continued success of the Freeview+ set top box, which has sold around 1.4 million units since its launch in 2007.

Then there is the Freeview HD set top box, which is currently set to be released towards the end of the year in the areas where the switchover is due to take place.

Before taking up this position, Tim Hunt was the market director on the ill fated Project Kangaroo, the proposed VoD service run by the BBC, ITV and Channel Four.
