Customers of Virgin Media are going to be experiencing the BBC iPlayer in HD for the first time through the V+ HD set top box.
What makes this announcement very interesting is the fact that this service is going to be completely free charge.
The only requirement for the customer is that they have an HD ready TV complete with HDMI port, which will allow the content to be shown at its best.
The cable firm launched the iPlayer on their service last year, and since then there have been over a hundred million iPlayer views, with around fifteen million in March alone.
Virgin Media was the platform to offer the iPlayer for viewing on the TV straight from the set top box, and this has become a thorn in the side for BSkyB which does not offer subscribers the opportunity to view the iPlayer on their TV.
