Broadband speeds reach 4 Mbps

by David Allen

Something that may be a surprise to some internet users is the recent news that the average broadband connection speed, for households and businesses in the UK, increased to 4.137 Mbps in the month of April.

This is a significant rise on the previous year’s results for the same period, where the average speed came out at 3.2 Mbps in April 2008.

However, it is not all good for the internet service providers.

They are able to offer faster speeds than last year, but complaints are also on the up, with customers dissatisfied with the service that they are getting.

The reason for this could be that consumers are being much more adventurous these days if compared to last year, with applications like the BBC iPlayer and video on demand services.
