The broadband provider BT has announced that its customer base has increased to 4.8 million, keeping it firmly at the number one spot, above the Carphone Warehouse who recently took over Tiscali, taking its customer base to 4.25 million.
The announcement came as part of the results for the first quarter of 2009, which show that almost a hundred thousand new customers joined the firm’s broadband service during the same period.
The provider also announced that the amount of Wi-Fi minutes used on the Openzone Wi-Fi service during the three months increased to an impressive one hundred and twenty million.
Despite these figures, that would seem to be very attractive, in financial terms BT made a loss and announced that there would be job cuts in the future.
