Virgin Media’s network expands

by David Allen

Further to the recent expansion to fifty thousand new households and businesses during this year, Virgin Media has announced that it intends to add a massive five hundred thousand households and businesses in the next phase of investment and expansion of its cable network.

This will be the largest expansion of the cable provider’s network since the 1990s.

Currently the firm covers around half of the UK’s households and businesses, but this is mainly concentrated in towns, cities and large residential areas.

The latest expansion plans include new developments where the cabling can be laid before the buildings are completed and areas where the cable ducting is already in place, which will keep costs and disruption down.
