IPA has issues over Canvas

Now it seems that the organisation responsible for advertising agencies the IPA has some concerns over the lack of details provided by the management behind Project Canvas.

These concerns were first brought up by rival broadcaster BSkyB.

The Institute of Practitioners in Advertising (IPA) have reservations over the BBC’s management announcement that outline the details of the project, but to outside parties was all too brief and lacked any substance.

This is a recurring problem when the BBC attempts to enter a commercial market, they are so used to doing things their way that when it comes to the real world things are not done the same and people expect different things from the private sector.

Additionally, as satellite and cable operators are major stakeholders in the UK TV market, it seems amazing that terrrestrial companies are not making more effort to work in partnership with them for such projects.

Project Canvas could offer a good opportunity for advertisers, content, producers and viewers if only it could make those fist steps.
