Orange pulls out of Kangaroo

When the competition commission crushed Project Kangaroo the on demand service created by BBC Worldwide, ITV and Channel Four it seemed that was the end of that idea.

However, shortly afterwards it turned out that Orange the mobile and broadband provider was interested in the technology behind Project Kangaroo.

Now it seems that in an announcement by Oranges parent company France Telecom negotiations are now over and Orange will not be taking this any further. Within the statement there is a clue as to why this decision have been made, they mention due diligence.

The three partners are said to have invested around £20 million in the project and although the asking would not be anything near the cost price, the reason for Orange not pursing this further seems to be on price alone.
