Virgin Media moves call centre
by David Allen

The cable group Virgin Media has caused anger among its 243 call centre workers, as the company plans to move and merge operations in an attempt to cut costs and improve services.
The staff who work as technical support are currently employed directly by Fujitsu in Swansea but the new plans call for the staff to be moved to the IBM centre over in Newport.
This means relocating, which is not going to be easy in the present circumstances.
Apparently, according to some staff, the journey between Swansea and Newport is a two hour round trip and a lot of employees would not be prepared to do that every day.
There are fears that they could be forced to leave the company.
Currently no decision has been made, although the consultation period will be open until the 9th October.
