BBC4 goes for female trilogy

The digital satellite channel, BBC4, has commissioned a series of female biopics of Gracie Fields, Margot Fonteyn and Enid Blyton, with Anne-Marie Duff, Jane Horrocks and Helena Bonham Carter taking the lead roles.

These programmes follow on from the success of the other biopics that BBC4 has produced, following the lives of famous people including comedians and politicians.

These shows have proved to be popular and brought in a good audience share to the channel.

Each film will be focussing on what happened in both their working and social lives.

These are people who are well known for their work, but behind the scenes their lives were very different, and it is this that makes this type of programming very interesting to the viewers.
