Full BBC shows may appear on YouTube

Soon BBC viewers will be able to view some of their favourite shows on YouTube, following talks between the user generated content service and BBC Worldwide.

If this deal goes ahead, then for the users in the US at least will be able to continue to view BBC programming without any time restraints placed on the clips either.

At the moment, viewers who miss an episode of their favourite show can go to the iPlayer, but the programmes only stay on there for seven days, while with the YouTube deal the programmes will remain online for all to watch permanently.

The hope is that this service will be extended to a wider range of programmes in the future.

On the issue of advertising, YouTube are able to sell advertising around BBC Worldwide content, but not around live shows.
