Motorola and Virgin Media join for faster broadband trials

The cable broadband provider, Virgin Media, has come to an agreement with Motorola that could improve the internet connections that the company has to offer.

The deal with Motorola, which specialises in communications infrastructure, could allow Virgin Media to bring in new broadband cable standards, which could mean DOCSIS 3.0 and channel bonding.

For Virgin Media’s customers this could mean that they will be experiencing a higher level of bandwidth, better online security and access to the next gen content services.

Currently Virgin Media is testing out DOCSIS 3.0 in Ashford in Kent, where the customers are expected to receive a broadband connection speed of around 200 Mbps.

Virgin Media’s subscribers currently receive around up to 50 Mbps connection speeds on certain packages.
